My friend bought a used 2002 40 HP 2 Cyl Oil Injected Tracker and it dies at idle. We've replaced the fuel filter assembly, rebuilt the fuel pump, dismantled and cleaned the carb and adjusted the idle speed needle valve. We've checked the compression and both cyls are within 5 psi of each other and within specs. It will idle for about a minute and then it revs up just a little and then quits which makes me think it is running lean. It is hard to start once it stalls at idle and blows a big puff of blue smoke when it does start. Runs fine at every other power setting. The fuel line from the tank is about 2 years old as are the two gas tanks. When the engine starts to stall, pumping the fuel line primer bulb will prevent the stall.
It appears it is starving for gas but what are we overlooking? I've scratched my head to the point I've got slivers in my fingers!
