Re: hydrofoil

Hydrofoils will not give you more speed. They will slow you down just a little.

Re: hydrofoil

There is no substitute for cubic inches.
Second option - lighten the load.

Re: hydrofoil

I like the way the hydrofoils make the boat plane and steer better.

Re: hydrofoil

Raise the motor as high as posssible without cavitating, that is free speed.

The only way to get more speed in a boat is with more power or less weight, you have a 15 horse motor so your speed is limited by that.

Agree, with that small amount of power I think a foil would slow you down.

Re: hydrofoil

It depends on what you mean by the water kicking up in the back of the boat. Coming in while running? Or when you slow down. If you get a spray coming straight up the back of the transom the most likely the motor is too low or there's something dragging in the water.

Properly used a fin can be a tool that allows you to do other things that may increase speed.

Re: hydrofoil

thanks everyone i dont want to go with a much bigger motor because the boat is only at 195lbs dry and if i put a 25hp on it the motor well be about the same weight as the boat.i well not use a two stroke so i would stay with a four stroke and most likely with a honda and if i went with a 20hp it is the same ccs but more weight so i guess i have too throw the wife out of the boat lol thanks.pat:D

Re: hydrofoil

Make sure the boat is loaded evenly. Check the motor height. The anti cavitation plate should be as close to even with the bottom of the boat as possible. If that is all correct, try raising it a little as mentioned.
