Questions for owners of newer Trophy boats.

Hi everyone. Newbie here with first question.

I'm looking at a 2005 Trophy 1952 walkaround with 4.3 liter Mercuriser. It appears to be in almost pristine condition, very little if any wear. When I looked at it, I forget to check for an hobbs meter, so I'm not sure how many hours. Because I'm in the Great Lakes region, I assume the boat has never seen salt, it certainly doesn't have any signs of saltwater use. It has no bottom paint and no signs of being left in the water for an extended period of time.

It comes on a single axle trailer.

I've got a couple of questions for the Trophy owners out there and anyone with experience with the brand.

1. Just generally, is there anything I should take an especially close look at on this boat? Any chronic problems with either this vintage of Trophy boat or the Mercuriser?

2. I'd be interested in any personal experience from anyone who owns this boat. What kind of performance can I expect with the 4.3? How's the ride? How does it handle the rough stuff?

3. What kind of price would you expect to pay for this boat? I've already run the NADA, but my belief is that prices are falling so I don't think this provides a real indicator.

I plan to use the boat mainly as a bigwater family cruisers, but I want something that doesn't pound us so badly in bigger wakes or confused seas.

Thanks.

how many on board. 3.0 is the absolute minimum, power for a 19 footer. i would rather have a 4.3.

Sorry, my mistake. It's the 4.3 liter Mercruiser.

I'd like to have up to 6 on board, for taking friends out, etc, but generally there will be 4 of us.

I agree and I've always bought boats that were powered at the top end of their recommendation/capacity. In the case of the Trophy, the 4.3 looks to be about as good as it gets, but I see there are different HP versions of this engine and I'm not sure which it has.

But I'm not trying to make this into a go-fast boat, to be honest with the price of fuel these days, I'm happy if I can maintain a reasonable 20-25 mph clip at a good GPH. 30+ top speed is nice, but not something I'd anticipate taking that much advantage of with this boat.

Any other opinions from the Trophy owners out there? Or owners of similar walkarounds?
