Need to find model and serial for Seventy Hustler OB

I just purchased a 1979 Kayot 21' Pontoon boat. It has an Evinrude engine marked "Seventy Hustler". Previous owner says it ran well about 6 mos ago, but I want to check it out well before I try to fire it up. I need a service and owners manual, but I don't know the year the engine was built, nor can I find a model number. Any idea where to look?

Should be a small plate on the port (left) transom bracket that bolts to the boat.

Ahhh, the 'Hustler' model. Is that the one with all the girly pictures on the cowl? :)

Lol. Alas, it is faded grey and blue, though with the proper airbrush application...

There is a smooth, rectagular area that looks like it maybe once held a plate, but unfortunately, nothing there. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I cannot find any such disc. There are 6 digit numbers everywhere, but they are all different (part numbers maybe?)

The Hustler model was made in 1974 and 1975. I think the model numbers would have been 70472M (1974, 15-inch shaft), 70473M (1974, 20-inch shaft), 70573B (1975, 15-inch shaft), 70573E (1975, 20-inch shaft). There was a "stock" 70hp both years that was part for part the same, minus the Hustler graphics.

What Chinewalker said :) I can add that in 1975 the 70 Hustler became the 75 Hustler; meanwhile the standard 70 (the Triumph 70) continued to put out 70 horses. The Hustler was replaced by the 75-S, a lovely silver and dark blue motor for 1976.

Your motor is a 1974 model. See attached picture.
