I have a 1985 Hydra Sport with a 200 HP Black Max 2 stroke. Took it out for a spin in the water the other day after cleaning the carbs, installing a new switch box and rebuilding the water pump. After a couple of rounds around the lake the warning buzzer came on constant. When the rpm's reached 2800 more or less is when the alarm comes on and the guage goes crazy. Is there a code for rpms, or can someone please tell me what the codes for the buzzer might be to possibly find the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

The horn on your motor is for overheating only. Since it is coming on at higher RPMs, replace your poppet valve.

I don't mean to sound ignorant but not a horn on the motor but under the dash, is that what you mean as far as overheating?

The beeper in the control can also be wired to a loud horn. The alarm circuit on that engine ain't rocket science for sure.

The alarm circuit is supplied by 12 volts from the key switch. If the alarm wire to the motor is grounded, the alarm sounds.

An overtemp sender on one head will ground that circuit, sounding a solid beeeeeeeeeeep.

The oil alert module normally beeps a few times on power up, then will beep, beep, beep if something is wrong with the oiling.

The two circuits come together at a terminal strip high on the starboard side of the motor.
