My Shamrock 260 open was in the slip hanging from straps when Ike came on shore just west of Galveston. Lucky for me the boat received little damage. One of the things I noticed was the Rudder shaft had a bend where it comes out of the hull. The swim platform, rudder and exhaust/swim platform brackets took a beating where they rubbed on the dock during the storm. The rudder shaft (one piece with the rudder) is bent around 5 or 10 degrees to the left. Didn't appear to be any damage to the metal housing where the shaft went into the hull. The boat motored nicely back to the ramp (1 1/2 miles). After the boat was trailered and I was in line with the CL of the keel, from the stern looking forward to the prop, the rudder is now about 1" out of line with the prop. I would appreciate opinions on anything that I might exspect if I do not replace the rudder or reccomendations to replace.
