A little fuel at the carb opening normal on a 1988 50hp outboard?

I rebuilt my carb today and when I went to run the motor, after a some cranking I noticed a bit of fuel spitting out of the carb. Was I flooding the motor?

Some fuel is ok a lot is not.Does it spit when running?Does it run?How did you set the air screw? Jerry

It only spit when it was cranking for a bit. The air screw is one turn out from seated.
