Does anyone else have any kids currently playing football? I've got two boys playing on the 7th grade team, and for some reason, they're pretty good. I never played in school, but I always wanted to. My oldest boy is an outside linebacker on defense, he's the punter, and he is a full-back on offense. My youngest boy is a corner-back on defense, a tail-back on offense, and he also plays on special teams. Both boys play pretty much the entire game without coming out. They sure make 'ol dad proud. My youngest boy scored a touchdown the other night, and all the kids were mobbing him in the end-zone. He came running out of the pile so he could look for me in the stands. When he spots me, I give him the "thumbs-up", and he does the same, with a grin a mile wide across his face. He had to make sure dad saw him score.........................Thats my boy.:)
Just curious if anyone else has any youth football stories to tell.

Carphunter, I know how you feel.
My youngest son was the starting QB for Floyd Central from 1999 thru 2001. He was then switched to tailback his Senior year when FC played Jeffersonville.
The move caught Jeffersonville completely off guard. He scored 2 TDs that game (homecoming) .

Re: Youth Football

I went to a small private school in Asheville NC. My senior year we were awesome, beat just about everyone we played. We thought we were tough stuff, thought we could take on the world. Until...

We won our division and went down to Charlotte to play in the playoffs. We got killed. It was like 29-0 in the first quarter, we even struggled against their JV team. We were maybe like a 1/2A and they were 3-4A. Just about everyone on our team played both offense and defense, these guys had 2 or 3 players for each position.

When I went to college I still had a notion that I could play ball until I saw those guys in person. I am a big boy, but those dudes were bigger, massive in fact.

Anywho, I loved playing football, enjoyed just about every second of the experience.

Re: Youth Football

I coached pee wee football years ago. My son was a center on offense and a linebacker on defense.

He didn't have the love of violence and contact that makes star players, but he played with his head and was the fastest man on the team. We went 6 games without being scored on. He didn't participate in sports after that. It interfered with fishing.

I understand what your saying there. My boys love football, but its beginning to interfere with our bowhunting, and they don't care too much for that. I keep telling them that there will be plenty of time to hunt, but because of their projected size, only a limited time to play football.

They did play last night, the 7th grade ended in an 8 - 8 tie. The 8th grade won 20 - 7.
