Hi, I have started haveing a problem with my evinrude. it runs at headway speed no problem, and even takes off into a plane, but after a few min. running it seems like half the engine dies out and it drops out of a plane. but then randomly comes back again. squeezing the primer blub does not make the power come back, and hitting the electic choke does not make it come back eather. I am going to do the powerpack test with the blow dryer today, and check spark. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar problem. Ill post me results later

I have a very similar problem with my 1992 Johnson 115. I have bypassed the VRO, changed out voltage regulator and fuel solenoid. Compression test shows all cylinders are within spec. WOT on plane for a few minutes then the OB just shuts down, RPMs drop to nothing, etc. Pumping fuel bulb does nothing, choke does nothing. Hard to start after that. Has left me stranded twice now. Its at the shop being looked at. Did you figure yours out, seems like we have similar issues?

Thanks,
Jeff

Another quick check on the fuel system is to remove the air intake and drain the float bowls into a container. You can look at the gas and see if there are water bubbles as well as you have cleaned out the bottom of the float bowls. Sometimes this is all it takes, if so you need a water seperator in your fuel line. Have you cleaned the filter screen in the fuel pump lately?
