Well,. after putting my boat up for sale a few weeks ago I was getting a little disappointed with the lack of interest. The boat was a 93 Renken Seamaster 1880, 93 Yamaha 85, 2002 Performance galvanized trailer.
I found this rig on craigslist last spring. It needed work, both cosmetic and mechanical and as I restore old cars for a hobby I felt up to the task. I had been on another forum and jumped over here where I found lots of help and was guided through the minor work the boat needed.
We really liked the boat, but where we are on the West coast of Florida, you gotta head out a ways to get to some of the better fishing spots. I just felt like I needed a newer and bigger boat. While looking for some parts on craigslist a Key West 2020 DC came up with low hours and a killer price. I moved on it and at the same time put the Renken up on craigs and Kijiji.
Several weeks passed with very little action and no tire kickers. About the time I thought the market dried up someone from out of state came by and bought the boat without a sea test. Really, though, it was in great shape and had some original paperwork, original 35th anniversary decals still intact, and a solid and good running Yamaha. I got $200 less than I really thought I could get for the boat. Made enough to cover all the new parts and some labor. None of which would be possible without the help of you fine folks. The new Key West is pretty solid, but thanks to Rodbolt and some others, I was able to tie in another battery using the newer Yamahas aux charging output.
All in all very good experiences from this forum.
The Renken, off to another pasture....
