most parts here http://www.iboats.com/Johnson_Outboard_Parts/dm/dz.36857--view_id.271265

others laingsoutboards.com

service manual http://www.outboardbooks.com/

i would do a decarb on the motor and get the black curd out of the motor, it is old built up carbon, unburnt gas and oil.

Decarb, take a can of seafoam put 3/4 of it in the gas tank, with only 1 gallon of premixed gas. put the rest in a spray bottle. start the engine, and let it come up to temperature. then remove plugs, and them some real good shot of seafoam into the cylinders, replace plugs, let sit 15 minutes. restart, and spray the rest of the seafoam into the carbs, so the the motor almost stalls, wait and repeat until the seafoam is gone.then take for a wide open spin. then put in new plugs, ad premixed gas to the tank, and take it for a wide open throttle spin. it is going to smoke like a house on fire, during this process.

afterwards compression.recheck

Keep in mind these older motors aren't very clean they do produce some pretty sludgy exhaust residue. If the fuel pump diaphram has a crack or hole it will cause a rich condition, also may foul a plug making more of a problem.
Artificial 2 stroke oil burns cleaner and is said to be biodegradeable.

Buy yourself a big favor and buy a parts book specific to your motor. You will be surprised at how many parts are still available from a Johnson or Evinrude dealer. But most of them won't give you the time of day if they have to look up the numbers. But if you go in armed with the part numbers they get a whole new attitude when all they have to do is pull the part off the shelf or put it on their next order.

What F_R said. All of my outboards are late 50s, 60s and early 70s motors, and I buy a lot of my parts from my local OMC/BRP dealer. He has even gotten me parts for an old Chrysler that I am fooling with.

I don't have parts manuals for all of my motors but certainly agree with F_R's thoughts on this issue. If you can go into the dealer with a list of part numbers in hand, they will certainly appreciate that. I also find that buying eveything that you need at once (as much as any of us can figure out the whole list at one time :D), makes them happier.

Another way build the relationship is to buy other stuff from the dealer's shop. For example, I used to buy my premix oil at Wally World (Pennzoil semi-synthetic), but now get it at my local OMC/BRP dealer. I buy the BRP bulk semi-synthetic, 3 gallons at a time. Since the cost is a wee bit less than the Wally World oil, and my dealer gets an additional sale, we both win.

All of this said, some of the OEM parts are just too expensive, so I will go to aftermarket sources when I need to. I rebuilt the ignition system on my 1972 J65hp some time ago and used CDI parts, except for the ignition coils. I shopped trusted internet sites for the CDI stuff and got the job done for about half of what it would have cost if I bought all OEM parts. Another thing to consider is that "OEM" parts for older OMC motors often are manufactured by the aftermarket guys, so price is something that you have to keep in mind.
