VENERE sounds like a Swedish person saying "Been There"

Nope, I've never heard of them either....

The site appears to be based in Italy, which may be why it's less familiar to US travelers. Is it OK? I have no idea.

Re: Anyone ever use VENERE.COM for travel

On 3rd September 2008, Advent International sold Venere.com to Expedia, Inc.

Initially a founder-led Italian online hotel reservations agency, Venere is now a leading European player in one of the fastest growing segments of the €205 billion European travel industry.

Bla Bla Bla ...

As a well-known, strong European travel brand Venere perfectly complements Expedia’s global strategy and their portfolio through the addition of 10,000 incremental hotel properties in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Bla Bla Bla ...

Hopes this helps.

P.S. Oh yea. Advent is sort of a “Venture Capitol” setup. They help “owner run” companies find buyers, so the owners can buy really big boats & stuff. :D
