WOW! I just read this thread non-stop. You two are amazing, your motivation and skills at your age is something to be very proud of. Now if I could just get started on my project, 68' Rinker w/110hp Merc OB, I could start a thread. Keep up the awesome work and you'll be in the water in no time.

Did a fair bit of leg work today, the one mounted leg is now fully functional. Ran the engine for the first time with it on. Shifts perfectly and is very smooth.

We also started working on leg 2....

Re: 29' Carter Safari

hello, ive been looking at one of these boats to buy recently.. and i have a few questins that the curent owner couldnt answer..or didt remember. maybe you could help? I was wondering what the fuel tank capacity was on the carter safari like yours.. and also how does the steering work? is the steering hydraulic ? and does it only operate when the engines are on?

Any info would be helpful... Thanks

your boat looks like its come along way!

i believe the fuel tank is 150gallons, the water tank is huge, im not sure exactly the size. the steering is hydraulic, and no power assist, so yeah it will work without the engines running. please post some pics of the beast!

I have to say that out of all the threads I find this one to me the most facinating. It's not to say that the other threads are not great but, I find this one to be the best because it's being done by two teenagers that are still at it and have not lost interest over the long months and hard work that has been done so far. Keep plugging at it. My hat is off to you. Keep feeding us the updates...

when does school start back for you boys? At least you can take your time and do it right instead of rushing. Mine won't see the water this year either. I was just informed last week that the owner will be shutting the doors of our company, putting me in the unemployment line. I guess it is time to hit the bricks and start lookng for work. such is life. maybe the next one won't be so hectic and I can spend a little more time with boats. keep the pictures coming of the progress, it will help me keep my head up. yak at you guys latter :cool::cool:

Great job legoman and friend. I was just like you at your age. I also commend you two on the outstanding job.

Gypsysoul, I have been unemployed for 3 months now. So I know how you feel, only thing that keeps me sane is the boat. I figure it like this, I put in 4 long hard frustrating years of work and what did I get? Laid off. So I'm taking my time to do something I love for a while.

Good job guys. There is no reason you can't do some winter boating!! Just make sure the heater works.

gypsysoul, sorry to hear about your job, that sucks!

we used poly resin for our transom. school started on the 8th. Things are going to be fairly slow for the next few months becuase we both have no money or time, but in the winter things will pick up again.

Yup simple. Just run some cooling hose into a heater in the cabin.
I have mine go though the hot water tank then the heater. Works great.

Amazing work. Maybe my 15 3/4 yr old can finish my boat for me.

You guys are doing professional quality work... Let me know if there are any fishing charters out of that marina and I'll stop by next year to checkout your finished boat :)
