I will order a manual, I'm attempting a complete rebuild on this motor. Was a very reliable motor, if anyone has any helpful tips or maybe there are photos of the breakdown procedure, I would greatly appreciate it.

What is a "long time"? From what I have read the salt will probably make the motor worthless ( beyond economic repair) in a short time. Rick.

If the motor is not stripped and cleaned immediately on immersion then it is pretty much scrap.

May not be worth the rebuild if submerged for a "long time"

I would just buy a good used powerhead and call it good. Anything that has been submerged for more than 24 hours without running afterwards is toast.

Question # 1

Did you get it running?

It's more of a question of how long is sat OUT of the water after being submersed than how long is was dunked. The salt water will act on it some while under, but once it has a chance to get partially dry the salt really takes its toll. For future reference, you can dunk a motor in fresh water after recovery (if done immediately) until you can take the time to fiddle and get it going again.

yep, what iwombat said, worse thing is letting it dry out.I salvaged many motors in South Fl. that sat on the bottom for days. Some actually got running ,how long they lasted ???But most are ripped apart. That engine is pretty simple,if you flushed with freshwater, drained carb ,cleaned the electronics including removing flywheel ,flushing, spray with electrical cleaner/dryer,get compression, spark, fuel, should run.Be sure to use 25 to 1 oil and run it for a loooooooooong time
