Re: 1967 950ss or 1100ss?
Most obvious diff is in the carbs. 950 should have teeny weeny itty bitty carb throats, with an obvious taper to the interior like a built-in velocity stack.
The 1100's carbs will be large and straight-thru, little or no taper. May have a bit of a 'bump' at the throttle butterfly but that's about it.
Can't recall if the name on the block is different (i.e. "Tiger" etc). Otherwise if I recall, the only diff is displacement (larger bore pistons on the 1100). The casting # will definitely be different.
Pull a main jet plug and take a look at the jet size, that'll tell you something too.

www.mercruiserparts.com and this is what I found:
950: KC-6A with .051" main jets standard;
1100: KC-7A with .065" main jets standard.
