Just looked at a new Four Winns 18 bowrider. It wasn't a F/S but aft seats could be removed, along with the carpet, to make it more fishing-friendly. Salesman said a lot of people buy 'em just for the bay ( ;)) but I'm still not sure about that style/size on some chop. Then again, for 20-30 possible days I'd be on bigger water should that matter? Am I emphasizing that requirement too much?

Go big my friend. If you read thru other posts, you'll notice most people say bigger is better so you might consider a 20-21 footer (maybe 22-24') if you are already concerned about a rough ride on big water. Ever been in one of those inflatable jungle-gyms with 5 or 6 little kids? Good luck keeping your balance... Nuff said...

You didn't mention the model, but the h183 is a 2500 lb boat with motor, and that's no lightweight. The h180 is also up there around 2300 lb.
I don't know how big of a boat you need, but those models seem to be fine in size and weight. Also 4 winns rates high in tests and has some good features. Good luck, and buy what you are comfortable with. :)

It was the 180. Thanks for the info. While obviously smaller, the dimensions compare (in my very limited opinion) to a Sea Pro 186cc they had.

Now there you go..if they compare in price, that Sea Pro is a really good fishing machine. 20 degrees of rise and over 8' beam. I had looked at one before buying the Key West and was really impressed with the brand and width for the size..

Nah, SP was $5k more, at least before any negotiation. 18k vs 23k.
