I have 1991 Crusader 454's and run them at 3100 RPM and achieve 19 knots, my boat is a 29 Ocean Yachts Express with Tower. I was talking to a buddy who has the same engines in a Bertram 33 FBC and he runs his at 34-3500 RPM, as it is more efficient. He burns 29GPH at 3600 RPM, and 26 GPH at 3000. If i ran my boat at 34-3600 RPM I would get hugely better MPG it seems.

So what do you all run your inboards at?

it is impossible to tell with out you trying it. they are totally different boats. every boat has to find it's "happy" spot. you could run 2 knots faster, maybe for the same fuel, or it could increase fuel usage. it is all trial and error, until you know what your boat will and will not do. even the same brand boat with different accessories, are different.

Get a GPS and a flowscan and run the numbers, there is no other way to get accurate numbers.
