Re: high temp alarm
have 87 blackmax mercury. Every since I bought it, it makes a continuous high pitch beeping from alarm when I reach high RPM's. It starts loosing water at the tattle tale. Have replaced water pump and found a chunk of rubber was missing. Believe missing part of rubber is stopped up somewhere. Where should I look for it?
If you have a water pressure gauge, what is it doing at the time it's overheating? If you don't, it's the cheapest diagnostic instrument you can buy for this sort of thing, and also early warning when you think you might have done something stupid, like try to cut through some millfoil, or get stuck in the mud, or raised your engine too high.
Once we know what the water pressure does, we can advise you with more than just a wild guess.
hope it helps
