Re: drain plugs

What where do you live outter mongolia.

Just saw one in napa 13 bucks.

Use the clamps already there and a piece of clear hose, 15 bucks.

Thats how i got my boat started and it sat for 8 years.

It ran like crap but no water in the oil.

And then i got to rebuilding the carb.

I just hate to tell you to drill holes and wait till latter to tap the holes.

It wants to start hmmmm no water in the oil?

And all you want to do is winterize it?

Up to you.

Yupp, Outer mongolia, closest auto parts, a NAPA, is 18 miles away, $60 for their pump. Next NAPA 45 miles away. maybe find one on the internet. Do you have a part number for that $13 one at NAPA, maybe I could order one

The town I live in has a pop of about 100.

Re: drain plugs

My kinda town.

I love little towns.

You have any other auto stores around there?

Wal-mart has them even cheaper.

You want to try to feed the carb with gravity.

Unscrew the fitting bye the fuel pump, that has the metal tube that feeds the carb. And hook a hose to it. Swivel the gas metal tube straight up. You will need to loosen the fitting to allow the metal tube to swivel and tighten it down again.

Or remove the metal tube from the carb and screw in a nipple and reduce the nipple to let a hose get on it.

The other side you need a way to give a steady flow of gas that don't leak.

I poked a hole in the top of a half gallon apple juice plastick container that was washed real good.

And i made a leak proof nipple so i could hook the hose to it.

I put it high over the motor but to the side on a pole.

Gravity did the rest.

It fed the motor enough to idle and little juice i think up to 1000 rpm.

Re: drain plugs

You can always just pop out a freeze plug then use a squeeze bulb to get all the water out.

Here are the photos of the plugs with the heads sheered off in the block about 1" above the oil pan lip.

Re: drain plugs

those look like Allen plugs with the hole filled with sealant try taking a small screwdriver or a pick and see if the sealer will come out

You might be right. I removed the sealant and a 1/4" allen did fit in one plug but I cant get any leverage and it will not budge. I soaked it with PB Blaster about 10 times. I ll try again later.

The other plug looks like an allen fitting too, but it is very damaged.

Re: drain plugs

get a good quality Allen socket (snap on , mac craftsman etc) that goes on a ratchet then clean the plugs out completely put the socket in and tap it with a hammer to seat it fully warm the area around the plug with a propane torch then they should come out if not you will need a short ez out

Re: drain plugs

This whole thing is kinda stupid--first of all if you don't know if those are the drain plugs why don't you either get the boat to someone who has a clue--move it into a warmer place or get a manuel that tells you what to do----a new motor is 3-4000 dollars----what a choice???? I've NEVER met a plug I could'nt get out with a little bit bigger wrench----good luck
