i have a restored 17 ft mckee craft whaler type hull
im running a 14x21stainless no cupping left on it omc prop,
my motor is 1983 175 evinrude crossflow fresh and tuned
my cav plate is at bottom of hull flush ,im turning 5000 rpm at 42 mph .
i cant trim up or i get bow hop before i can get to 5800.and have to trim down ,my boat guy said a prop with stern lift will help butim thinkin smart tabs what suggestions do yall have for me to max this thing out .lift motor watch pressure ? smart tabs . differnt prop , are all three . if so what order.
smart tabs .then prop , or smart tabs , then lift motor and watch pressure.
then prop need input setback jackplate?. this motor is tuned to the tee with
boysens firing hot on all 6 with gt heads .so it should really push this boat.
thank you all and see ya on the evirude forum. see a couple of yall on scream and fly as well; thanks Bennyb

Sounds like the prop needs a rebuild or replacement.I don't think you can do anything about setup with that prop.I think I'd go with a new ss to start with.Usually I would suggest the Huster aluminum because it delivers close to ss performance at aluminum prices but usually it is suggested to stay with prop material and brand if possible.ie: if you go with X stainless for your new prop stick with the same brand unless it seems X doesn't perform as expected.Helps to to get uniform prop response.A new prop should solve your venting problem and may let you raise the motor some and trim better. With new prop raise the motor a hole at a time to a point just before venting becomes a problem be sure it pumps water. No doubt properly installed tabs will improve you boats handling but I would hold off till you get the setup and prop dialed in.When making changes do one at a time and test.
