Hey, I'm in the process of getting a 15 hp. evinrude running. Still trying to get the carb right, but what I want to know is: When I'm playing with the choke & carb (motor is running) there is some sort of white globs floating to the surface out of the thru hub exhaust. The second they get to the waters surface, they melt or dissipate very very rapidly.......like butter in a hot pan.....has anybody ever seen this before? No oily sheen is left behind, motor pees good, lower unit lube looks good.....i'm at a loss.....any help?...thanks

Trust me, we have all seen it before! It is apparently pretty normal when running a two stroke, especially an older one with 24:1 oil mix. What you are seeing is at idle or low RPM, not all the oil in gas gets burned, and it comes out the exhaust sometimes in clumps. I am sure if the lighting is right you will see the oily sheen.

I got my first two stroke running just a couple months ago and asked the same questions. I was afraid I had to rebuild the lower unit again!

Hey asdacs, So far i have only gotten the motor to run at half throttle only..no low speed idle & the ratio is 50:1 mix. Thats why is mystifying me. It doesn't look like or behave like residual oil.
