Hello all!
Stumbled across this forum, and I love forums, so I joined up!!

I bought my self a 5 horse gamefisher and I'm havin some trouble locating an impeller for the little thing. I figured for such a mass produced motor it wouldn't be such a problem, in turn its quite a task!
I could also love to know what year the little guy is, along with any opinions on em. It's gonna be pushin my sailboat around and this impeller is the only thing holding me back! Help me pleasseeee:D

Your motor is built by Eska. I could only find a 586612 in my manual But I would guess it is about an 85.Close to Eskas final production. It uses a Tecumseh air cooled power head with a water cooled exhaust leg.Certified Parts Corp should have what you need.Impeller is one of the weak points of the motor.I can't recommend the Eska. They are noisy, vibrate, are under powered ,weak impellers and ignition, fuel system.Parts are a pain as you have found out.
Finicky at best unreliable at worst.
My suggestion is get her working the best you can and sell it and put the money toward A Evinrude/Johnson, 5,5.5,6 or 8 hp from the early 50s to the 80s They are guieter, much smoother, easy to work on,much more reliable.
Routine parts are readily available some right here at Iboats. There are folks out there using 1950s 5.5s on a daily basis.

Thanks so much for the website for the kit I need.

Trust me, this motor wasn't the one I originally wanted.
I bought a 5 horse Nissan first, but the entire cylinder had a crack running along it making the compression close to nill.

So I went back to the guy who I bought it from and picked this one up instead.
This is a temporary fix at the moment. I'm lookin at a 6 horse Evinrude longshaft still. I'll fix this impeller issue, sell it, buy the evinrude:cool:

You can get get an impeller from Sears for your motor.
Go to www3.sears.com and put in your model number.
I checked it out and your impeller is in stock, so you are in luck.

I forgot to ask this when I asked about the impeller...
The rubber boot that holds in the gearlube is ripped a bit..
Do I make something work? or does sears carry that as well?

Thanks!!

I think you mean the seal.It may be a standard seal available at an industrial supply (seals, bearings, bushings and the like)Of course check at sears.Probably cost more but may be simpler to get.

http://www.certifiedpartscorp.com/

has the best selection of parts for that outboard, nice staff, quick shipping and less expensive. Much better than my experiences of ordering parts through Sears. What I've done in the past is, look up the part numbers at Sears and then order then through Certified Parts.

(or as SS sugggested, get the seal at a local bearing house)

Well, found waterpump impeller from the sears link, and it worked perfectly.

Now it runs and shuts off...

So I took the carb off and started to clean it, then realized this looks broken..

What the heck is it, what does it do, and where can I get another one.. If this is even the problem, the carb was pretty clean other than this orange thing, So I'm also goin to change out the spark plug, compression was good, I tested it before this thread was made..

Thanks,
Kyle

That is the fuel pump element.Pretty sure you can get it at the places suggested. It must be installed at a 45 degree angle. With the carb upright,
at 1:30 and 7:30 on a clock face. Thats the first time I've seen an element.
often wondered what they look like.

Sears must have just added it to their parts list, cause last I looked I could swear it was not there.

Thanks for the clarification and the angle its supposed to be installed, I'm ordering the element and a manual from sears.

I'm so close to being on the water...I can smell the sea breeze:D
