Well I have had a few posts and asked a few questions, so I figured it was time to share pictures of the boat and my slow progress.

Engine is in the process of a rebuild and the velvet drive rebuild is done.
I've got a lot to do, but my goal is to be on the water in May of 2009.

I have a realistic budget of "More than I expected" :D

Epoxy as I will be working outside in cooler weather and felt more comfortable with epoxy for that reason.

Motor is a 5.7 Mercury (Chevy 350) and I have a carter carb to go on it. Alternator is at mechanics for a rebuild (I can do it but have too much on my plate) Distributor is there as well for testing.

Wood is in the house and has been drying for a month and a half or so. I don't see a free weekend for a few weeks, so it will stay there other than to transfer the stringer shape to it this weekend.

Had a minor delay as the Bronco I use for towing needed a new rearend this week and I spent a grand getting it back in order  but it now runs smooth as silk and is nice and quiet to ride in. No more towing my neighbors 23 foot Four Winns back and forth to the lake though (It is one heavy mother at about 6500 pounds towed!)

block is at the machinist and I have the heads done and all the gaskets etc to reassemble along with a new oil pump timing chain and harmonic balancer.

Still need a water pump, a new shaft log and a new transmission cooler, but most of the big stuff is purchased and waiting.

You can't see it, but my shop vac is sitting by the boat right now. In the last picture you can see the gas tank. and yes I am using a dual respirator mask (But I can't find it right now and am on hold til I do or til I buy a new one grrr!) Have a tyvec suit too for the grinding marathon that is getting close at hand.

Oddly enough the part of the project I dread is the wiring. It needs some serious work and I am less comfortable with a multimeter than a wrench or a saw.

Good news is I've worked on car engines for years. Bad news is they were Fords and this is not.

If you think washing fiberglass laden clothes is bad for a washing machine . . . well I accidentally shot mine with a 12 ga earlier this year from about 4 feet away. Even light birdshot will penetrate clean through to the agitator. Good thing I am divorced and the kids weren't here

Oh and the boat is a 1988 Marlin I suppose the interior could be photographed, it is in the spare room right now.

To make a long story short I was working on a gun and knew it was loaded, but after years of shooting timed competition, old habits took over when I closed the gun and my finger and the trigger became one then BOOM! Ears were fine, it is an advantage of having damaged my hearing a bit over the years.

A 19966 Honda Superhawk sounds awesome with straight pipes, kind of like a lion roaring (but not nearly as loud. I actually heard that once from 5 feet away when zoos still had cages and bars. Makes the hair on your neck stand right up.)

You haven't lived until you've shot your washer.

Re: Pictures of my project

Today was cold and wet, so I decided to see if my sewing machine could handle marine vinyl. Test results were excellent. Most of my interior is faded but intact, however the driver seat cushion needs to be redone and I need to make an entire sear seat, so it looks like I am going to take some cold weather time to do some upholstery work on my own instead of farming it out.

If anyone has helpful guides I'd appreciate them.
