Ice And Water Shield On Boat Floor?

My question is If I epoxied fiberglass mat to the deck, 18# woven strand fiberglass to tie the floor to the sides of the boat. Wouldn't ice guard (for house roofs) over the epoxy last for a really long time and be absolute insurance that the deck will be waterproof? If I ran it like 10 inches up the sides of the boat. There is glue for the carpet that is safe for rubber backed carpet. So it shouldn't harm the iceguard.

Not sure what you would gain but weight. :)
The ice/water shield is no more waterproof than properly applied epoxy and glass.
You still need to cover the water shield, as UV will get it pretty quickly.

1) way too much weight
2) your roof doesn't get the traffic that your boat deck does.
3) Bond-o is dead on rot occurs from water below deck either by lleaks or more often ( I believe) condensation. ventilate your bilge and allow for water to drain away from your foam and stringers.

1) 31 lbs would cover it (grace 30 mill). I'm putting a fuel injected lt1 350 in instead of the stock 350 (and then some)
2) traffic seems MOOT on rubber under carpet
3) bond-o is right. I can't believe how the factory slapped these things together. One motor mount was crushed from only a 230 hp motor.

The boat is going to be way better than factory. Just call me over-kill:rolleyes:

Forgot to tell ya. I owned a (I think a 68 slickcraft) 17 footer 120hp, had a BLAST with it.
