I have a 1995 / 90 hp Evinrude. I want to change out lower unit from a jet drive to a prop. I need to know what yr. models and hp will work for this engine. Thank you for your help.

Is it hard to change out lower unit jet drive to prop ? I work on my own cars, truck and bike but never worked on a boat motor. 1995 - 90hp.Evinrude. And I will be selling the jet drive on ebay when I get it done. Thank You for all your help guys....

Re: Lower Unit

go to www.shop.evinrude.com and look up your year/hp/model, then just start going through other years and see what years the part #'s match yours.

Re: Lower Unit

When you find the lower you need Ebay is a good place to look for the new one, much cheaper than new and just as good.

If you don't want the old jet drive I'm sure someone would snap that up if you sold it on Ebay and you could come out with a free or almost free lower.

Re: Jet drive to prop ?

I've got a jet drive sitting on a shelf that I still want to use on my 1980 115 Evinrude.

It really does not look that difficult, (although I've had it for a couple of years) but I'm not sure if a factory jet would have the standard shift mechanism or not? The two types of drive shift very differently.

Does your motor look to have a shifter connection under the cowl? Probably nothing hooked up to it, but I'm curious if it is there or not.

You can switch back and forth easily, there's not that much involved.

There is no shift mechanism on the jet, just a push/pull cable connected to the diverter on the pump nozzle which moves up and down.

Which model of 90HP do you have? Many model years will fit a 90* cross flow.

The drive shaft length will change in around 91 though.
