I've got a 56' 30 hp seahorse, that was sitting for a while(3yrs give or take a month or two) , when I fired it over there was no pee, so I figured water pump right, Well I replaced it, the housing was in good shape no cracks, no splits no problems at all. So I just replaced the impeller, The old one still looked fine and was still limber, I went ahead a placed the new one in though, put all back together again, and still had the same problem, the pipe is not clogged, I took back apart, and the with a hose you can run water up through to system and have the motor pee, put back together again and same problem. Spoke with the boat house where I got the part and was told that this impeller could not be placed in backwards that it would not matter which way it went in, The key is in place also. The motor was run dipped in a tank with plenty of water well above the intake.

I'm at a total loss. anybody got the fix.

Thanks Cory

sounds like maybe the pick-up tube may have slipped out of the end of the pump during reassembly.

have you checked to amke sure they are together?

a buddie, long skinny screw driver ,and a flashlight are great for lining those two up together

Hello,
You need to have the water higher than just the intake. The pump itself has to be submerged in order to properly generate a prime. Those pumps aren't self-priming, which isn't generally an issue on a boat as the pump is buried when at rest. However, in a bucket with water only above the intakes it isn't enough. Bury the sucker and see what happens!

Heres a possibility also, when i did a 33 hp rude i had that darn thing apart several times and it wouldnt pee ,so sat down and thought about it and took apart 1 last time and used a avaition sealer on the base of the pump cover and that was the end of my problems.
