I just changed the impeller on my motor. Everything seemed to go ok but now the motor smokes a bit and I am not seeing any water come out the p hole.. Water is coming out of the bottom.. Before the impeller swap it had very little water coming out.. I only ran it for a couple minutes and I think I flooded it first.. I installed the impeller the same direction the old one was installed.Looking down it is clockwise.. Did I do something wrong.. I also changed the lower unit lube... Thanks
Roger

Yup, drop it down and ceck the rubber grommet on the water tube also the driveshaft seal at the top of the pump

Thanks Laddies,
You were right about the rubber gromet.. I slid the water tube with rubber grommit in first then I aligned the black tube and water tube when I slid the lower unit on.. Now I am getting water out the hole..Seems like better than before but still it is like dripping really fast not a steady stream.. Is this because I am running it in a bucket and not with ears.. I am use to the bigger motors with the ears that has a nice stream coming out.. I have never had a small motor before..
Thanks Again
Roger

In a smaller contaner they will sometimes suck exhaust gases as they will pump easier than water.

I have a 15 HP and it just trickles until warmed up and the thermostat opens. You then should get a good stream. The thermostat might cycle open and closed thereafter.
