Does anybody have a picture of their factory bimini top installed on an '87(or close to it) 19' Capri(open bow) I have the top but for the life of me can't get the thing to fit right. It was never used by the previous owner so he didn't know either.

Thanks, Brian

Thanks for the picture but I don't think mine is supposed to look like that . I believe mine clips onto the windshield and sits much lower to the boat.

Mine isn't in that great of shape either. A mouse or other rodent ate a big hole in the top canvas. I was hoping I could figure out how it attaches and then repair the hole. It may end up being cheaper and easier to get a whole new top made for the boat.

Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian,

Are we talking about the same thing here? If your top connects at the windshield then it just might be a boat cover. A lot of boat designs were different ( look at the last post ). Now, they do make a bimini that connects at the windshield but it will be a foul weather system. It will have a clear piece of plastic that snaps to the aluminum frame and might be about three feet tall. That clear plastic will then be stiched to the fabric to offer protection.

I'm not sure what the thing is for. I have a whole bunch of clear plastic but it doesn't attach to the top that I have. My guess is when it's put together right, it will look something like the other picture that was sent to me.

I have a separate cover for it but rarely use it because I store it indoors. As I stated before, there are a couple of holes in it so I don't think it's of much value unless I get it repaired. Now, I do have snaps in the bow and back by the transome and just need to figure out if the pieces that I do have go there or not.

I think it's supposed to look like that. The problem I have is where the poles attach on the side, right behind the side glass. My poles rub this area real hard to the point that I'm afraid that it may crack the glass.

I've got all winter to mess with it but with that picture, I have an idea on what it's supposed to look like.

Thanks!

This is the Navy top on my 85 Capri Cuddy Cabin. It has an opening windshield like the open bow model does. Might be similar.

Mine has two straps underneath the cover that you can use to adjust the tension. That also is what determines how far up the poles have to go.
here are 2 more pictures of what my cover looks like.

Yours is waaaaayy too tall. I'm starting to think that it is a cover rather than a bimini top. I found one in the classifieds that was about the same height as mine.

With mine attached, you can't stand up inside of it, infact, you would have to steer bent over because you head would be rubbing the top.

Thanks for the pic.

I actually found a picture of what I think it's supposed to look like in the classifieds. When mine is attached, it sits much lower than yours. I'm beginning to think that it is a cover and not a bimini top. Not a big deal since I already have a cover if I need it.

I also have straps attached to the poles but if I stretch them to the snap, the windshield clips pop off, almost like the top is too short. As I stated before, the origional owner never used it, so maybe it's not even the right top for the boat.

I've got all winter to figure this thing out.

Thanks,
Brian

mine isn't that tall either you have to hunch over to walk through it. and when driving I have to slouch down so my head doesn't hit.
