Black Friday Shopping

Did anyone else fall for the Black Friday (day after T-giving) deals that started at 05:00?

I did. Once and ONLY ONCE.

I must admit, I got a smokin' deal on a new rollaway Craftsman tool cabinet at Sears. There were other unbelievable deals to be had. I couldn't help myself and also had to have a router bit set at about 20% of the usual cost.

What a madhouse. The crowds weren't that bad but the checkout procedure was over one hour. I HATE lines.

I have to hand it to Sears on thier large item pickup procedure.

You simply pull into a special lot. Call on your cell phone and give them your item number. Five minutes later, they arrive with your stuff, load you up and away you go. Well done-Sears! That part was good.

I never go anywhere on black friday.
Can't deal with it.
I opted for a less frustrating pastime - fixing the washing machine!

On black Friday, I loaded my dirtbike and went riding. :D

Now, on Cyber Monday..... I was busy all day shipping stuff out, my shop has an eBay store and it was on fire all day Monday. The day went by really fast!

Didn't go anywhere, should of been out christmas shopping though. Kmart was open on thanksgiving not that I was there (I wasn't), I recall having to work a thanksgiving or 2 while working there years ago.

What's cool though is my mother has her family discount card still from when she worked at kmart. Now get this sears will give us an extra 10% off of the sale price when using the employee discount card but kmart will not do that, don't know why . Kmart bought out sears but yet they have different rules.

Re: Black Friday Shopping

We do a lot of on-line shopping, so normally we don't go out to get Christmas gifts.

But I did make a run to Sears, at noon, to get my son a tool chest set. Glad I did as I got the last one.

The week before I was at Sears to get sanding belts belt for my old Skil Sandcat and I had to look for a sales clerk. I could have shot up the place an never hit a soul. On Black Friday, the place was packed.

I did it once for Frys Electronics. Early start and big lines but there were killer deals on computer components. That was during a time when I was doing computer building with my mid teens son. It was a real god dad/son venture. But anymore, there is nothing I want bad enough to put up with the crowds.

2 years ago I went to Target, they opened at 6am I think which wasn't too bad for some yard art. I always wanted some of those moving wicker feeding deer with lights but they were always too much. More than 1/2 off as I recall :D. I haven't wanted anything bad enough since then. Spend my time asleep!

Re: Black Friday Shopping

My wife executed the shopping on Black Friday...... the husband stayed at home and drank some coffee!

This was planned like a treasure hunt. The sales flyers were examined and the route was planned and all written out on paper. Coupons printed from the internet and tennis shoes laced up nice and tight. I was given a kiss and the wife was gone!

Hours later she returned with the bags of gifts. I was the audiance for the initial showing of what each gift was and for whom.

Now the closets are packed, the gifts are no longer in sight not to be seen or touched until the big wrapping party!

I sincerely enjoyed my coffee :D

it was a 6 hours cruise, 30 gallons of fuel. absolutely beautiful day.

also on the cruise back in. i stopped to light a cigar, a pod of porpoises, surrounded the boat playing. i put the boat in gear at idle, and they followed along, surfacing on the sides, and right in front of the 2 toons. they followed me playing for about, 15 minutes. i took it as a sign that Lester was settled, and still having fun. looked to be between 30 to 50 in the pod.

could not get pics, they were too quick.
