Hey all I think I may have been had. I was looking for a tilt/trim for my 82 50 hp Merc. I searched high and low. Finally found a listing for a Merc tilt trim 40 - 60 hp no year on the listing. I called the number given and it was a very reputable company which sells new outboards and does repairs in FL. I inquired about the tilt/trim and told him I had a 82 50 hp Merc. He puts me on hold a few moments and comes back to say it will fit. Also he added he will give me the entire mid-section if I pay for the shipping, which I did. Well it arrived today and the serial no. on the "New" mid-section says (0D129053) which is a 40 hp 93 model. I'm not sure if this is going to work or not. My engine serial no. is 5949572. I guess the question I have is .... before I start tearing down my upper and lower units to fit the mid section onto it ... will it fit the newer mid section?? I feel so dumb in not researching it before I paid for it. I guess I was so excited I found one I was blinded by my glee ... if it will fit , is there anything I need to adjust or be concerned about with the new mid-section. The new section is clean and I tested the tilt/trim and it works great.

I will start the conversion today ..... the seller mentioned something about needing a seal for the power head/midsection connection?!?!?!
