Spark plug Question

After seeing the thread above I went out to my boat and I see I have autolites/....... so. I want to replace them. It is a 96 5.0 2bbl merc. What is the right and best plug to get. This reminds of that guys sig.... " Just because you found it that way does not mean it is supposed to be that way"

I got autolites too, but im not going to changing them out because someone prob installed the wrong ones and had a problem. If its not broke don't fix it! Unless you just want to waste your money. I ONLY replace plugs when there worn, otherwise clean re-gap and reinstall.

haha yeah kris, that was my thread. i didnt end up putting the autolites in.

on this page manual number 17 is that manual for your engine. the tune up specifications should be in the first couple of pages. there you will see what mercruiser recommends for spark plugs.


EDIT: sorry upon looking at the manual. its not the full manula like the resto f the other ones

It is a 96 5.0 2bbl merc. What is ...they use different (especially length) plugs.

Watch the length like Shabah said. Don't get too hot a one ether, get whats recommended, or there could be bigger problems down the road.

I don't think there was any vortec 5.0L's in '96. Standard heads:

AC: MR43T
NGK: BR6FS
