90hp/120hp Flywheel Compatibility Help

Anyone know if flywheels are compatible between a ('92) 120hp and a '91 90hp Force/Merc?...or are these completely different animals?
Both these motors use the darker blue merc coil packs and I assume the same stator although the 120hp's stator appears to be red while the 91's looks grey/black.
The reason I ask is that I have a good project '91/90hp project motor that I am putzing around with but I noticed the flywheel magnets are starting to separate from the flywheel. Short of removing the flywheel and epoxying them on I was considering getting another flywheel (& stator?) altogether.
Any help or info on this would be appreciated.
Many Thanks Guys:):)

If both are force they are probably the same..You can reglue, just don't put too much glue under the magnet as it will swell and hit the stator.Jerry

Thanks Jerry, good info. As well, I was thinking of getting the seller to take a few quick measurements of the flywheel diameter(s) and thickness and doing a quick check against my 90hp flywheel. This would give me a quick, loose idea as to it being the same size/mass.
Have you had success with re-attaching magnets with glue/epoxy?
Any idea what a good used flywheel and mating stator would be worth used?
Again, many thanks!

I agree with Jerry: First try re-glueing the magnetic strip.

I know that late Chrysler and Force up to 1990 all used the same flywheel on all three and four cylinder engines (with the possible exception of Force 70). As for 91--if it looks the same, it is the same and will be interchangeable.

There is no "matching stator" The same flywheel was used for both colors. Rim magnets energise the alternator and ignition charging coils on the stator and the hub magnet energises the trigger coils.

Price? I suppose whatever the traffic will bear. A savvy seller will know that new flywheels are expensive and will try to get as much as possible. If he has no idea how much he wants, offer 10 and work up from there. But don't be surprised if you need to go significantly higher.

If you can get some really good photos, before buying, check the laminations on the hub magnet. They tend to spread and flake off if rusted. Lose to much and trigger voltage could be affected. Scrutinize the rim magnet. No sense buying something almost as bad as what you already have.

Re: 90hp/120hp Flywheel Compatibility Help

Excellent info guys, as usual. I will try to pull the flywheel and start with an attempted re-attachment of the magnets.
Will this mess up any timing? or simplify don't move anything while the flywheel is off?
I am tempted to buy some parts of that 92'/120hp parts motor...it's all there trim/tilt...electronics, controls-speedo/tach, etc, etc, etc....very tempting parts even tho' I really don't need 98% of whats there.
Thinking on it...
