The impeller being "shot" might be responsible for clogging the system with remnants and there may be more than one impeller failure responsible.
The pieces of impeller can plug up the oil/power steering cooler and restrict coolant flow.
In much the same way riser/elbows (and manifolds for that matter) can do the same thing.
the result is the same. reduced net flow of water thru the engine can cause it to overheat.
If you haven't removed and inspected your raw water pump you haven't taken one of the very the first steps on this problem.
When manifolds and riser/elbows get corroded enough the flow of water thru will be severely restricted. The raw pump cannot pump enough water thru the engine to keep it cool if the manifolds and/or risers are restricting the flow...
You want to hear the bad news first, or the badder news first.
Heres the bad news first, that riser gonna leak on you and not to distant future.
Badder news, the other one look like that also ? Than that ones gonna leak on you ?
Still the same 500 dollars and a bargain to boot, if you get the WHOLE kit.
Gaskets, manifolds, and risers all in the same box at one low, low price.
And remember you want Osco.
Not GLM.
Do it right the first time you won't be sorry.
Good luck young man, i feel ya pain.
No they were not.Arks was the ones you reused connected to manifolds that had freeze damage, and cracked and then JB welded..
ABSOLUTELY!The picks on this one tells the story.
