mariner 175hp no spark

Hi Guys
wander if any of you have any advice on testing proceedure for no spark on a 1992 mariner 175hp. one other thing is after you have been cranking engine for a few seconds the alarm sounds. was out with it switched it off and now won't start, I'm a car mechanic by trade, so marine is abit different for me.

hi ....welcome to i boats....

im sure our guys can answer that for you.....the guys that post on these forums are some of the most talented mech's around......thy have saved me thousands of dollars with out ever putting a wrench or ever seeing my motor.

the local guys that were working on the motor.....just missed it....and our guys nailed it....complete with proper part numbers....


but lets get this moved to the correct forum so they are more likely to see it.

Heres the test for the ign system,m get it running and that may take care of the alarm.

probably showing my ignorance here it says cdi resistance and oem resistance.do i test the wires connected or disconnected, and are the dva reading when cranking with wires connected .
I disconnected black and yellow wires for kill still no spark.
after cranking for a while got a weak intermittent spark.
any help gratefully recieved

Test with the wires disconnected.
