I have a 95 Sea Ray 195 b/r with a Mercruiser 4.3 Vortec That is seized. Does anyone know where I can get a used one in New Jersey. I Purchased a motor off someone & paid him to install it, But he stole my money & Boat.:eek: I found the Boat & the Police took a Report. He also Stripped my Motor of the intake, thermostat housing, exhaust manifolds & other missolenious stuff.:mad: They arrested him for Theft by Deception & Theft by/for unlaw Purpose :). Anyway I need a Motor, Because I don't know how long this is going to take in COURT. I tryed every Place I know of & they all want more then what I can get a new Motor or Rebuilt for. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME. From what I have been reading on this Forum, They put valve covers that say Vortec on them in 95.

That's where this whole debacle started. I have been looking for about 2 months now. I found 1 in Virginia a 96 with 468 hrs. for $2000. I see in alot of the postings you seem to be one of the intelligant one's. What else would I have to do besides brass freezeout plugs, change Intake(I still have to buy one) & Exhaust Manifolds (have to buy them also) & put what ever I have can change from my old one over. I also seen in a post you told someone to make sure they have a alignment tool, Where can I get one from. I am Mechanically inclined, but I never changed a boat motor. Any pointer's you can give me ?

Your by lake Hopotcong correct, i know cause i dip my smaller boat there occasionally.

Make the rounds of the marinas there, see what kinds of boats with bad hulls are laying around.

I know ebay has some boats there now, thats where i got my donor boat.

Or you can yank a 4.3 out of a van or truck and stick the whole thing in with the efi.

Just have to dress the motor with marine stuff.

The second choice is what i would do if i were you.

If you want a good sound mechanic, i could recommend someone who posts here, and he won't rip you off that i know for a fact.

Heres a guy i bought from don't know if he has one but he won't rip you off ether.

Thanks Chief for that info I will check up there on Monday. As to pulling a motor out of a truck or van, How would I put it in with the efi attached ? would that be better then the 4bbl. carb ? If you can tell me how to with the EFI I would like to do that, It would save me alot of $$$$ (I have to buy a 4bbl. intake). Would you know where I can get or how can I Make a alignment tool ? Also would I have to change the Pilot bearing on the truck/van motor ? Again Thanks for the Info.:)

Oh alignment tool ebay got the cheapest i've seen, 50 bucks delivered. Do a search in boat parts.
