Re: 92 johnson 25 hp oil mix

I'm guessing on this, but I don't think the 1987 needs 100:1 mix. I had a 1978 35hp that I ran on 50:1 and all was good. I don't believe OMC motors have required 100:1 mix for a very long time. It's not going to hurt anything, just over-lube it and the carbon may build up faster than normal.

A 100:1 mix has 1/2 the oil as 50:1. I would run 50:1 in both.

The 1992 engine will require 50:1, using a TCW3 oil. 1 pint in 6 gallons is near enough.

The 1987 engine should also be using 50:1.

OMC attempted to switch to 100:1 in 1985 but few years later advised that all engines supplied during that period and subsequently should in fact be run on 50:1.

All decals relating to 100:1 should have been removed and operating instructions amended accordingly

Running 100:1 means the engine will be UNDER lubricated.

Before 1964 engines used more oil in the mix usually 24:1
