I'm ready to get it over with ;). Is it over yet? That's what you should have asked :p.

My shopping is done ............ finished today :D
:D

Same here, thank goodness. Not like I had to go and buy 2 more gifts, I could of called it quits yesterday, but I didn't. It was a mad house down town, I couldn't believe it, I avoided all the crowded businesses the best that I could, and entered in the back door on the ones that were crowded that being the mall. Better then half the gifts are wrapped and under the tree.

To show I'm no scrooge................ Merry Christmas to all the iboaters out there.

Only had to buy for one person this year, my wife. She has already opened the camera, I had to give it to her early so she wouldn't waste more money on those darn throw-aways.

The big gift to ourselves is the round trip tickets to Key Largo, we'll be spending a week with my sister in the Florida Bay...:p

Re: Are you Ready for the Holidays - Christmas

I think I have been asked, "Are you ready. . . .??" a dozen times today, and I only spoke with about a dozen people.

I always enjoy Christmas. I gather with the love of my life, my children, their children and their children's children. Good times, good cheer, good food.

But no. I am never ready and I am always hoping it will be over soon so I can return to my normal life.

Yes, it sounds contradictory and it is. I have no explanation.

I wish for all my iboats friends the kind of joyous Christmas I always have. . . .a celebration of love.

Re: Are you Ready for the Holidays - Christmas

I guess I am ready as possible. Got gifts for the grandboy, son and daughter. Got some gifts for the Bosslady, the rest are "in the mail." Probably shouldn't have waited to the last minute for the on-line ordering.

I an not really a scrooge, but Christmas is not my favorite season. Growing up dirt poor didn't help. We do celebrate the family get together and the joy of giving is good. But then, we give all year long, so it is not all that special.

Sorry for the downer.

People are kinda shocked when my wife wraps gifts of ritz crackers, for her its about just giving something, she's completely non materialistic.
She is celebrating "our savior" as she puts it and nothing else.
Last yr I got a box of all bran, neatly wrapped.
Had my heart set on raisin bran.

Mother Theresa was asked why she works in squalor against impossible odds and she put it like this;

"when I kneel to help someone in the gutter and look into their eyes I see Jesus looking back at me".

Nice...a birthday on Xmas eve.
That sucks. Happy BD anyway.
I had a secretary whose BD was the 26th. This has to be the worst day of the year to be born.

Regardless of our individual beliefs and traditions, Christmas is a special time of the year for almost everyone it seems. I hope yours is joyful and blessed this year.

And just a quick prayer and "Thank You' to all our folks in uniform please.:)

Yes, all done, gifts bought, wrapped, and under the tree, outside of house and yard decorated and the admiral has decorated the inside of the house. Will have the family in this evening and do the Christmas eve thing, put the grandkids to bed and set up the Christmas AM stuff.

We are checking the guest and food lists right now, bird is in Boom's Brine, goose is going there soon, elk is thawing, ham is thawed, gotta get some extra supplies for the meals ... will have 61 people, or so, coming through the house for breakfast and dinner. Not that Christmas is a big day, or anything ... :D

It's the Spirit of giving that makes it what it is.
And from the giving, a receiving is inherent.

Also cool to get things..

Merry Christmas! :)
