Volvo 5.7 OSxi-E Raw Water Pump Replacement

I have to replace the raw water pump on my 5.7 OSxi-E Volvo. How do I get the serpentine belt off?

The boat is sitting in the water and I also need to know how to shut off the water coming into the pump while I'm replacing it. Is there a seacock somewhere?

Any advise?

To release the belt, turn the bolt head in the center of the automatic tensioner (item 11 in pic). It will only move a short distance, (don't force it) but it will be enough to slide the belt off idler #10.

As for shutting off the water to do the pump, there is no shutoff. Best thing to do is pull the hose off and put a plug in it. Even a rag will stop most of the water while you change the impeller. The bilge pump will keep up with the little that does come in when using a rag to plug the hose.

Since this sounds like it's your first time, I would strongly suggest you pull the boat out of the water to do the job.

I read your post and find it helpful... I leave my boat in year round (use a BoatSafe heater) - I see a repair(s) in my near future - here is what I noticed when I went to start the engines last week - (2003 Cabrio 330 - with twin 5.7... xi) my stbd raw water pump is dripping a small amount of rusty water and my port was doing the same but now dripping much more with oil mixed with the water - before I embark on replacement, any idea where the oil is coming from - scares the hell out of me!

Any info would be greatly appreciated...
