Can anyone help me out Please? I just bought an old 12ft. Alumacraft rowboat. The man I bought it from said he never had the title and just gave me a bill of sale. He thought the boat was a 1950 but not sure. The number stamped on the keel to transom bracket is "B3903". Can anyone confirm this year? And does anyone have any literature from this year.
Thanks Paul

Re: Alumacraft ID Please?

Welcome to iboats.

Not all boats had titles and many states do not even require one for boats.

Maybe someone will have some information on the old Alumacraft but I would not get your hopes up.

We actually have an Alumacraft section and you might start reading there.

Re: Alumacraft ID Please?

titles and registrations were not required until 1972.

what you will have to do is get a notarized statement from the seller, that

"the boat has never been title, only use of a private lake, without a motor." then they will title it, for you. that is what we have do in Florida, and Fl is strick.

Re: Alumacraft ID Please?

Same in nj tash, but i had to bring the boat to the State Police marine div.

And they went over the boat looking for numbers. Couldn't find any so they issued me a letter and i took that over to the dmv.

Then i was issued numbers, they are looking for stolen boats.

Interesting thing was when i was there at the State police there was 3 teenagers in cuffs caught with stolen pwc. You know jet skis.

Sniviling away crying away, the Police kept telling them that they knew they were stolen and if you do the crime you better be able to do the time.

Re: Alumacraft ID Please?

Thank You all for your input. Bob thanks for the link to Alumacraft. I wrote them and received an answer the next day. According to the numbers B3903it is a 1946 B model. He did not have a catalog from 46 but he did from 47, so he is going to send it to me snail mail.
Thanks again
