Spark plug wires for a 1960 evinrunde 18hp

I want to freshen up my 1960 evinrude 18hp since most of the electronics are getting a little old. I looked on the iboats marine store and found coils, tune up kits with points and condensers, and carb kits all in stock. I also want to replace my plug wires, but I am not sure which ones I need. If memory serves me right I need two different lengths. Any one know what lengths I need?

Does anyone know which ones I need? Part number(s)? Also do the carb kits include the packing nuts for the high and low speed needles. I can not get to the motor right now, but would like to make an order so I can put it in when I have time.

Your local OMC dealer should have a kit to replace your wires. You build them yourself.
It has been my experience that the packings are included in the carb kits.

I get my plug wires from laingsoutboards.com They are long enough for both, you'll have to trim one. They come with hideous blue plug boots on them, but for 3.00 apiece, they're o.k. Fast shipping and about 5.00 to ship, bringing the grand total to 16.00 or thereabouts. I've called and sent email. the email worked great once, no-go once.

Any auto store should have wire core plug wire. It will be in bulk, just give the lenght.

if only that were true. Maybe in your area, but not around here I am afraid. They can special order it in a 50 ft roll here. I ended up buying a wire set of solid core and just using what I needed. Was cheaper.

If you are having trouble finding "wire" wire, go to a tractor supply place and buy a set of copper core wires, and trim to length. Farmers use them on tractors all the time.

Seaway Marine or Engine Blade and Prop. They sell it by the foot.

My boat dealer keeps it on hand. Cuts me whatever I need. Any lawn mower repair shop should have some too.
