The manual (page 3A-29) says to install the lower oil seal of drive shaft housing with lips facing up (toward top of housing) whereas at the relevant picture the sterndrive is up side down. So, the lips of the lower seal face the real top or the real bottom of the housing? And something else,do you feel the gap beteween two seals with grease?

These are the seals with the springs in them. The spring sides face away from each other.

Chiefalen
Not that i don't respect your experience but
a)i just came back from the car mechanic who told me that the liquidproofness of the seal is from the side of the spring so the two springs shouldn't see each other
b)what you say contradicts with the service manual unless the lip of the seal is the oposite of the spring's side something that doesn't look normal
PLEASE HELP I'm more confused now!

The flat part of the seal is up against the flat part of the other seal and no grease between them they wore out. Thats why you have to replace them.

No grease on the shaft where the seals touchs the shaft dry shaft. No grease.

Dip the seal in oil or rub oil on the inside of the seal.
