88 Evinrude Tilt problem

I am about to get the long tern use of a "community" boat that has an issue with the engine tilt. It is a 88 Evinrude 150 that worked fine when last used 7 months ago. Now , the current user cannot get the engine to lift. He says the relay just "clicks". At first I thought the motor might be stuck but then he told me that he tried to bump the starter with no luck. What do you all think?? Corrosion? Bad Battery? I don't have it yet to troubleshoot but should this weekend.

Not enough info here: Does the boat start? If not battery is a good place to start especially after it's been sitting for 7 months!

My 95 150 has two relays. AND the boat runs - One day mine stopped going down. I reversed the relays and then it would not go up. I bought a new relay and it works perfect!

My guess is you should get a new battery on your way to the boat.

Sorry about the lack of info, kinda new to this. No the boat does not start. Starter does not even turn. Everything worked fine when the boat was parked. He did not exactly think about storage of the boat. I found out that the batt was left in and hooked up and was dead. He put a trickle charger on it and has power to the lights and some other stuff but not the motor. Without seeing it...sounds like the batt is too weak or corrosion has built up somewhere in the cables.

When refering to the relays clicking I meant the tilt relays were clicking and the engine was not moving.

Probably still a battery issue. Trim pumps likes lots of juice.

Possible that the fuse in the engine harness is bad. It's found in a small red rubber casing not too far from the starter solenoid.
