welcome to iboats.com!

the best place to get an answer for a question like this is in "boats restoration and building".

i wouldnt doubt it if it got moved.

it may be a better idea to sell this boat and buy another..........unless you have sentimental attachments.

It will take a lot of work to make it look good, and to build in the bracing needed to keep the hull from collapsing in after the strength of the cuddy roof has been removed.

If the only reason you want to do this is to comply with lake law, then you will be better off buying an open bow.

Does the lake association want to prevent sleeping on the lake? Thats what I gather from what you wrote. No cruisers allowed? Nothing with a galley, cuddy or birth?

an 83 could be a nice boat or a klunker, if it were mine it would be a junk because thats all I buy and I'd take the sawzall to it, toss the furniture, keep the bow closed for integrity but remove the cabin top.

if its a nice boat I;d sell.swap for something else or boat elsewhere.

make you live easier, sell what you have, and buy what you need. if you want a project, buy an open bow project boat. what you are proposing is a long term project, and expensive. and could possible end up with not liking it.

TYPES OF WATERCRAFT AND DEVICES PROHIBITED:

d. Houseboats: a boat, which has toilet facilities, sleeping quarters, galley or any combination thereof (Cuddy Cabins are considered sleeping quarters).

well if you go cutting on it, you loose any value the boat has, for resale.
