Pricing Kodiak SS Disc Brakes

Since there is time (~2 months) before the purchase is made, price shopping is in order. Or maybe a group buy?

So far I've found trailerpart dot com to be the cheapest at $368.06 per side X 4 = $1472.24 + $20.00 fedex ground shipping.

Anyone know where it would be cheaper?

Over $400 per side if you buy 1 at a time. There is a 10% discount if 4 is purchased at once.

I think they have gone up, I paid ~500 a set for mine about 2 yrs ago. I love them though, best brakes in the business. Kodiak talked about selling them direct at one time, but might still be just replacement parts, might be worth a check though.

Have you considered going with the e-coat or s-cad? I bought some of the e-coat ones on ebay and I flush the heck out of them once I get out of salt water. I have had no corrosion issues at all. Another thing to think about is that stainless has very poor heat conductive properties. The steel ones will actually work better.

How long have you had your brakes for? I may just buy a set for 1 axle and a new actuator first. Then get the second set later in the year.

2 1/2 years. No problems. I actually started with the stainless TieDowns..they are junk. I also went with an electric over hydraulic controller but that isn't necessary.

I have a dual-axle trailer and have the Kodiak E-coat brakes on all four wheels since 2006. $150 a wheel and absolutely love them. I drop in salt water and am NOT very anal about cleaning the trailer afterwards......thus far they still look pretty much new. Also, I had a problem with one wheel brake hanging up and I have to say Kodiaks tech line and support went over and beyond in helping me resolve it. Turned out the stainless sleeve on the aluminum caliper piston split and spread open enough to allow the piston to apply, but not retract. Mine are the 12" brakes. I would absolutely do it again. I will say that with the coated brakes, the rotor and hub are one piece, whereas the SS use a hub/hat setup. Might be an advantage, but not sure if it's enough of an advantage to be worth the extra money.
