Optimax serial number 1B364399. It is a 3 cylinder, boat hull is 2006 so year should be right around there.

The engine starts up and runs for maybe 10 seconds or less when you first try to start it. After that it runs for maybe two seconds. Thought it sounded like a fuel issue so we:
-changed filter on the engine
-used fresh fuel tank from different tank
-used seperate primer bulb
-cleaned spark plugs
-Psi test on the low and high fuel side as well as the air compressor side (they were all withing specs)

After all that and it still did the same we hooked up the computer. We tried the automatic static test that the computer does but at the end it said "ECM Error Can Not Read Faults"

I then went and did the manual test and it came up with two faults, one for air compressor overheat (history of 11 seconds) and the other fualt was number four which I looked up and it said limiter.

Now, the air compressor is working fine as we tested the psi at the fuel rail but would the code in the computer keep the engine from running so it wouldn't hurt itself any more? That is my only guess so far, any other ideas as to what could be going on?

Don't know if it matters but I forgot to post the model # which is 90EXLPTO.
I read up a bit on how important batt. voltage and spark plugs are on this engine so i'll probably double check those two things and go from there.

Here are a couple of things to check.Firstly, when you do the fuel pressure check, did you get the pressure up in the rail and then check to see if the pressure holds after the pump has completed it's cycle. The reason I ask is this,I have had opti's in the past where the compressor has overheated due to excessive fuel in the premix chamber which ends up back in the compressor causing bore wash, more friction and subsequently, overheating. If your fuel pressure is leaking down, you will need to have the primary fuel injectors serviced and you will also have to strip, check and clean out the compressor.Do the fuel pressure leak down test first and see how you go.
