1982 Johnson 90 v-4 timing

I wonder how I adjust the timing plate at idle at what degree and how much does the timing plate move with the throttle lever (degrees),
any hint will be appreciated. Thanks

I don't have a manual, can't I get the figures? Are they such a secret?

It seems nobody has?
They ask me for over a hundred bucks for shipping a manual to me overseas which I was trying to spare, but well.

The actual idle timing number really doesn't matter. A lot will depend on how low the motor sits in the water at rest (backpressure). Once you set the linkage so the butterflies are closed at idle you set the timing so the motor idles at 650-700 in gear.

I found the idle figure on the flywheel it's 4 deg, I need the high speed advance because I thing it is wrong because its changed by the bolt restricting it; limits it too much and is painted so I can't determine its original position and the timing plate moves very little compared with the one on my 1981 Johnson 50, might be for the smaller piston stroke, do I have to buy the book for one figure 20 or something; I am deciding now.?

The 1982 service manual lists the V4 setting as "28? +/-1?". [Page 1-42, manual # 392790].

There are a few situations in various years and models where the numbers were changed after the service manual release.

Thanks a lot; that is 4/28 as low/high RPM.
That motor will purr like a cat in spring on the test run.
I love the v-4 90's appearance: low and fat, Johnson performance and sound
and I'll get power for water skiing.
