Hi;
I have a 2005 (or so) Yamaha 4hp, 4 stroke outboard. It had a new carb put in 2 summers ago, and then last summer it lost it's ability to idle. It starts OK, runs OK from mid throttle up, but will die right away when I reduce the throttle.
Do I need to buy a manual in order to tune this up? Or can someone just tell me what to check, and what to adjust?
If I need to buy a manual, what's the best one to get?

Also, the top plastic cowling is cracked, and after the Yamaha dealer here quoted me $340 for a new one I puked. Is there a cheaper supplier to parts like these?

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks

looks like i fixed it, just by taking the carb apart and cleaning the slow air jet. it was clogged. put it back together, and ran perfect right away.

If you do purchase a manual...buy the OEM. Do not waste time with chilton or seloc etc.
