Could someone confirm that on my 1996 evinrude 150 counter rotating lower unit I will need to pull the prop shaft out with the carrier. According to my manual it states, "do not use a regular puller that pushes against the propeller shaft. Use slide hammer with prop shaft attachment and pull both out together". My question is, do I have to disconnect anything else before I use the slide hammer? The standard rotation carrier came out easily using a regular puller.

Follow the manual carefully. Using a regular puller may result in damaging the gearcase. The bearing carrier and the back half of the propshaft will come out together. Obviously you have to remove the 2 screws and tabs first.

Is there anything holding the prop shaft in place that has to be disconnected? If I use a slide hammer attached to end of prop shaft only, will the prop shaft pull against the bearing carrier bringing it out with no damage?

Have you removed the 2 bolts and tabs inside the carrier?

Yes the tabs are removed. The only thing I want to know is, do you have to do anything else before you attach the slide hammer to the prop shaft to pull the prob shaft and bearing carrier out?

Nope, once the tabs are out there's nothing holding it in. Well, maybe some corrosion around the O ring but that's kinda normal.
