The better half and I are planning a few several day trips to Cayuga Lake this season. Although we have a small cuddy, she isn't sure she's ready to stay out overnight. I plan to launch at Hibiscus Harbor. Can you folks recommend any decent (clean, quiet, dog friendly) hotels within 20 miles?

Thanks. John C in PA

The entire finger lakes area is very popular in summer and you should order well ahead of time.
Hibiscus harbor is very close to Union Springs on the north end. There are Seneca Falls,Waterloo and Auburn nearby. If you like the center, you should go for the Aurora Inn,which is about 10 miles to the south. This would be my favorite. It has Wells College,my wife's Alma Mater.
We own cottages on Keuka Lake and Owasco Lake but the family has the season pretty much locked up so that would not help you.

I found that out last Summer when I tried to find a room in Ithaca on short notice and couldn't get anything decent. Guess I'll have to plan ahead. Thx for the info.

Check Penn Yan NY. Grew up there as a kid, don't remember any names but there a lot of places to stay.

That's a little far from Cayuga Lake but looks good if we go to Keuka.

Thx, John C

I forgot to mention that there are a bunch of very nice wineries in the area, but beware of the one next to Montezuma park at the north end of route 90.
They claim to be a winery but they do not even have any vineyards and what they call wine is what my dog deposits on fire hydrants.
The best wineries are on the west side of Seneca lake and on the east side of Keuka lake.
Talking about Keuka. On Saturdays there is the wind mill market just south of Penn Yan.This is where the Amish sell their stuff.
It is always fun to chat with them and eat their goods. But then again, you are from Pennsylvania so you are probably well aware of these things
