i have a venture bass boat 18.5ft and have just installed a 93 force 150 fresh rebuild. have not put it in the water and looking for pointers on props im not too sure what size is on it now. i am having issues getting it off of the motor. there are no marking on the prop. i believe the guy i got the motor from said its around a 15 pitch. he sugested a 4 blade 21 pitch, but cant find any 4 blade props for the force any one know what if any will interchange. pointers on proping this right would help.

Try to find the prop size sometimes under the prop nut.A prop shop can tell you the size.I'm not an expert on Force motors but for a 150 to run a 15" pitch the boat must have been quite a brute.Usually the best way to select a prop is to run the present setup.Get us the prop size, max rpm and speed.
If your able to try different props it would appear the 21 would be a good start. Not sure why he would suggest a 4 blade without present info.
A 4 blade is usually used to improve low end performance at a slight sacrifice of top end.If the old prop appears to be stuck try PB blaster to loosen it up.

Re: 18ft bass boat, 150hp force

If it is a stock prop, and if it has the Mercury locking washer with tabs to bend down, there should be very small numbers, only about 1/8 inch high, on the hub between two of the prop blades. They usually are difficult to see.

Is money an issue? If not, on your 18 footer, a 21 pitch in stainless would seem to be approximately correct. I am running a Chrysler 140 with a 19 pitch cupped stainless on a 21 foot cuddy at 5000 RPM.

HOWEVER: If at all possible, TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.

i got the prop off lastnight and i cannot find the numbers any where on it i think its a O.G. prop it does have the tabs you have to bend to lock the nut down. it also looks like it has benn painted a few times. should i take a wire wheel to it to find the prop info? or is there another way to get the info off it?

thanks

Sure take the paint off.You might consider a non corrosive paint remover so you don't sand away any numbers. If all else fails a prop shop can measure it.
